Alibaba, the leading e-commerce company in China, has partnered with the China’s police ministry in an effort to develop a smartphone just for officers to utilize that is going to not only allow for game play and online shopping, but has a safe mode. This safe mode is designed to ensure data theft and foreign spying does not occur to these officers.

The operating system is the YunOS, which was designed by Alibaba, however, has several added security features to it. This will enable officers to use one phone for both personal and work use, without the fear of this information being used for the wrong purposes.

Many consumers are worried about these phones being used for more play than work purposes, however, most believe that the introduction of this new phone will give officers peace of mind. Alibaba benefited from this collaboration in that they were able to access police databases to look for photographic identity on user’s accounts within their pay system Alipay.
