The online market in China is a booming business, with several platforms allowing Chinese consumers to not only buy products that are of high value and for a lower price, but also to connect Chinese consumers with products that may not be locally available. For platforms who are trying to reach Chinese consumers, they need to realize just what types of devices are being used to purchase these products. This will allow them to have a platform that is going to fit the needs of consumers.
According to the above infographic, the majority of Internet users in China are utilizing their PC in order to purchase a product, while 30% of these purchase are researched via a PC. However, websites should not be catering to the PC user alone. Though mobile phones are not being used as much as PC’s, the statistics show that they are not far behind. The research found that 27% of users are utilizing their mobile phone to purchase products, while 25% utilize their mobile phone to research products.
This research showcases how important having a platform that is not only PC suitable, but also mobile suitable, to engage customers. This is a figure that many of the dominant online shopping platforms are listening to and adapting their practices to in order to reach the most Chinese consumers.
